Day 23: Eternity With Him
"My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand." John 10:27-28 (NASB)
In these verses, Jesus the Good Shepherd continues to explain to the Jewish leaders – and to us today – who he is, who we are, and why he has come.
But they don’t get it, he tells them, because they don’t believe. And because they don’t believe, they won’t receive what he has to offer: eternal life.
It’s no different today. We may have good morals, do wonderful things, and even go to church on Sundays. But unless we truly believe who Jesus is, and accept him as Lord and Savior, then we, like the non-believers 2,000 years ago, will miss out on eternal life.
The Good Shepherd doesn’t want that. He wants us to be his sheep, to listen to his voice, to follow him, and to spend a glorious eternity with him.
Have you surrendered your life to him as Lord and Savior and become one of his sheep? How well are you listening to him, by spending time in his Word and in prayer? Are you faithfully following him in every area of your life?
If you are, then you know not only who you are but whose you are: You are his and he’s never, ever going to let go of you.
No, he promises us: “No one can snatch them out of my hand.”
Talk about job security; Jesus guarantees true believers eternal life security!
If you’re part of the Good Shepherd’s flock, celebrate! And if you’re not – or you’re not sure – don’t put off saying “yes” to Jesus. Talk to a pastor or a Christ-following friend or family member today and receive the gift of a life that’s secure for all eternity.
