Day 17: We Are All Sinners
Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
John 8:10 (NIV)
John 8:10 (NIV)
How do we think of people caught in sin? How are we to respond? As Christians we are able to discern between right and wrong, and we want to do what is right, but many times our sinful nature pulls us the other way. The reality is that we are all sinners and from God’s perspective, there are no “little sins” or “BIG sins.” Jesus reminds us that it is God’s place to judge and condemn, not ours. When He was presented with an adulterous woman whom according to the Law of Moses could have been stoned for her sin; Jesus said to the crowd, “If anyone of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” Here Jesus teaches us not to judge others.
So, what do we do next time we are confronted with making a judgement? We need to remember that while God hates sin, He loves sinners. We must never try to judge and condemn others. We need to pray for them.

Prayer Focus: Dear Jesus, thank you for your teachings. Help us remember what you have taught us and let your Holy Spirit move _________ away from this sinful and harmful state. In your precious name I pray. AMEN
The song "Splinters and Stones" from Hillsong shares some of the themes from today's Scripture. Take a few moments to listen and reflect on the lyrics & God's grace for you & I:
And one by one the stones fell where they lay
As one by one my accusers walked away . . .
Hallelujah
If ever now my heart cries hallelujah
If ever now in the wonder of Your grace
A thousand times a thousand years My soul will say
Hallelujah
