Grieving with Hope Through the Holidays
Coordinated by Brian Ralston & GriefShare Ministry
Wednesday, Nov. 7 & 14 @ 6pm | Room 15/16
The holidays can be difficult and dark days for those walking through grief. Everyone else seems to be busy, excited, and looking forward to the coming holiday season. Others seem to be thankful at Thanksgiving and overflowing with the Christmas spirit. Expectation, fun, and celebrations characterize the calendar. Meanwhile, those who have been wounded by loss feel pressured to carry on traditions that have become burdens, do more with less energy, and secretly feel guilty for not being “more thankful/joyful” as the holidays are celebrated.
But we followers of Jesus can choose to grieve with hope. We can be transformed by the grace of God even as the holiday season overlaps with a season of loss. We can choose to redefine, learn to say “no” or “not yet,” discover a new normal, and set new traditions in place, even as we walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
Using video materials from Grief Share, some practical tips from several who have already walked the path, and devotional perspective from the scriptures, this 2-week discussion-based group will offer help and Biblical hope to those who have lost loved ones in recent years. As we need to prepare, please sign up for this free workshop before Oct. 30 by calling/texting/emailing Brian Ralston. (209-613-2264, firstname.lastname@example.org)
A round trip “door-to-door” ride can be provided if requested ahead of time.
